5 Truths God Wants Every Mother to Know

5 Truths God Wants Every Mother to Know

Motherhood is not merely a role, it is a divine calling. Before the foundations of the earth were laid, God saw her. The mother. The nurturer. The warrior in soft garments. The woman with tear-streaked cheeks and a heart full of prayers whispered in the dark.

To be a mother is to embody a piece of God’s heart, love unconditionally, give endlessly, and hope fiercely.

Every act of love is a seed sown in eternity. The hugs. The discipline. The bedtime stories. The scriptures whispered. They don’t just build children; they build legacies. Your labor is not in vain. Your quiet faithfulness is building more than memories—it’s building a foundation of truth, love, and identity in your children.

Motherhood is not an accident. Whether you planned it, waited for it, stumbled into it, or are still growing into it, God chose you. He appointed you as a nurturer, a guide, a comforter, and a warrior in prayer. Even on the days when you feel unequipped, God’s call still stands. You’re not just raising children—you’re raising eternity-bound souls.

Reflection: Do you see your role as a mother through God’s eyes or your limitations? What would change if you truly believed you were chosen for this?

There is a hidden strength in every mother, sometimes gentle, sometimes fierce. It’s the strength to carry on when sleep is scarce, when emotions run high, or when doubts whisper lies. But God doesn’t expect you to do it all alone. He clothes you with His strength. And in Him, you can laugh, even when the future is uncertain, because He holds it all.

Reflection: Where have you been trying to mother in your own strength? What would it look like to let God clothe you with His?

Hagar was a mother on the run, alone, afraid, and overwhelmed. But in her wilderness, God revealed Himself as El Roi—the God who sees. Just like Hagar, you are never invisible to God. Every unnoticed act of love, every bedtime prayer, every tear cried in secret—He sees it all.

Reflection: Have you felt unseen in your role as a mother? What comfort does it bring to know that God sees you fully and lovingly?

There will be days you lose your patience, question your decisions, or feel like you’re falling short. But God never asked you to be a perfect mom—He asked you to be a present one, dependent on His grace. His strength shows up in your weakness, and His love covers your gaps. You don’t have to be everything—just anchored in the One who is.

Reflection: What area of your motherhood journey do you need to surrender to God’s grace today?

Your influence as a mother reaches beyond what your eyes can see. Each moment you pour into your children is a seed planted for eternity. Whether you’re teaching them to pray, modeling forgiveness, or simply being present, you’re shaping a legacy. And in God’s hands, nothing is wasted.

Reflection: What legacy do you want to leave for your children? How can you sow seeds of faith today?

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for the sacred gift of motherhood. In every season, whether I feel strong or weary, joyful or uncertain, I surrender this calling back to You. Remind me daily that I was chosen for this, not by chance, but by divine appointment. You saw me worthy of this role even before I became a mother.

Clothe me with Your strength when mine runs dry. Help me laugh at the days ahead, not in fear, but in faith. Let my heart rest in the truth that You, El Roi, see me—in every quiet sacrifice, every tear, every hidden act of love. I am not forgotten, for I am held by You.

Lord, cover my shortcomings with grace. When I fall short, may my children still see Jesus in me. Remind me that perfection was never the goal—presence and surrender are. May Your power be made perfect in my weakness.

Finally, Father, help me to leave a legacy of love and faith. Let my children walk in truth because they saw it lived out in me. Water the seeds I plant in prayer, patience, and in love—so they may bloom into eternity.

In Jesus’ precious name, AMEN.

With love,
Faith Murithi, FAMU.
