A mentor is an individual with specific knowledge or experience in a given area of expertise, who is willing and able to share their knowledge and experience with a mentee. Though anyone can be a mentor, professional mentorship needs some specific skills that come from training. Apart from being an expert in a specific area, one needs other mentoring skills to be an effective mentor. This is where FAMU steps in; to equip you for effective mentorship.
The Mentor Training is a 8-Week program for women who are passionate about mentoring others and would like to know how to go about it. The program will enable you to come up with your own mentoring framework.
Because the relationship between a mentor and mentee might seem to be a “natural” connection, mentoring programs sometimes overlook the importance of training. But like anyone stepping into a new role, mentors are more likely to succeed if they participate in useful training sessions that prepare them for what lies ahead.
The Mentor Training Program will explore:-
- Mentoring Models, Tools, and Skills
- When to Teach, Train, Coach or Mentor
- Enhancing your purpose as a mentor
- Your Personal and Leadership Analysis
- The 5 W's of Mentoring
Are you an inspiring mentor or an experienced mentor who would like to explore your mentoring potential? If YES, then you are at the right place!
NB. Intake is done on One-On-One basis.
What is expected of you:-
- Attend the sessions once a week.
- A notebook and pen.
- To access personal assignments and notes on Google Classroom.
- Fill in your workbook (Mentor 101 Workbook)
- Attend the annual graduation to be held on Saturday, 3rd December 2022. (We pair up mentees with mentors for purposes of accountability)
We know that personal development is not a quick fix but happens one step at a time. In this regard, we offer a one-year follow-up after completing the program.
Please Note: All Covid-19 protocol shall be observed during the physical meetings.
Your total investment for the Mentor Training Program will be:-
Kshs. 40,000 Payable in two installments.
